PC Tola Munro has swapped Bargoed for the USA, to undertake a four-month research project in Washington DC.

Tola successfully applied for a Fulbright Police Research Fellowship and is hosted by the University of the District of Columbia from August, and will be affiliated to the Montgomery County Police Department.

The Fulbright Commission exists to promote UK-US understanding on a range of issues including policing and during his time there he will be studying the effectiveness of perpetrator programmes for domestic abusers.

On October 2 Tola took part in the 24th annual AIDS 5k Walk Washington http://www.aidswalkwashington.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=335700 finishing 414th out of the 934 participants completing the course in 28 mins 28 secs.

Among the items that Tola took with him to Washington to help explain his local patch was the Bargoed bag.

Tola is pictured with it at the Abraham Lincoln Memorial.
