Demolition update

Tuesday 7 April 2009

A contract with Hochtief Griffiths to demolish Bargoed library and the properties aquired for the Retail development has been agreed and work will now commence on April 20th.

Initial works will be to the interiors of the properties, including asbestos removal from the library. Scaffolding will be erected around the site and the pavement in front of the properties will be closed off.

Actual demolition of the properties is scheduled to take place around the middle of May. At that point the road beside the library will be closed and traffic wishing to access the Hanbury road car park will have an alternative access provided via the new junction of Angel Way onto the retail plateau (and thence via the rear lanes)

The full contract, including crushing of the demolished material on site, will conclude at the beginning of June.
